212 years of the legend: old-new Shevchenko
We are used to see Taras Grigorovich with a high forehead, in a sheepskin coat and a cap, with a “Kobzarik” or with a chic hairstyle… He is always a mustache, a stern look and a suit.
But are we really USED to seeing a genius like this?
Somewhere since 2014, he has been with us in a helmet, he looks at us from murals, he looks at the world from hundreds of monuments, he keeps his spirits up, he is a symbol of the nation.
Is it possible to measure Shevchenko’s popularity today?
If we look for the answer not in the number of celebrations, monuments or museum exhibitions, but in a slightly different direction, then:
- the project “Shevchenko’s Quantum Leap” – about 30 illustrations and hundreds of amateur variations on the network;
- the special project Shevchenko365 – more than 500 author’s interpretations of the image;
- thousands of unique images of “meme creativity” in social networks;
- regular selections of top memes in the media…
