The Voice of Youth Matters: BDPU Student Council Joins Discussion of the “Women, Peace and Security” Action Plan

On October 15, a presentation of the regional “Women, Peace and Security” Action Plan for 2026–2030 took place in Zaporizhzhia. The event was attended by Valeriia Mordvinova, Head of the BDPU Student Self-Government, and Karina Vasylieva, Deputy Head of the Student Council.

The meeting brought together representatives of youth organizations, civil society, and regional authorities to discuss gender equality, violence prevention, and youth participation in important decision-making processes.

During the event, participants learned about the key priorities of the regional action plan, which include preventing domestic and gender-based violence, supporting survivors, providing mine safety training, and increasing women’s participation in decision-making.

An interactive session was also held with Tetiana Shurubura, a psychologist from the Proliska humanitarian mission. Using special cards, participants discussed gender stereotypes, equality of rights, and personal safety.

Participation in such events provides BDPU Student Council representatives with an opportunity to engage in public dialogue, represent the student community, and gain a better understanding of the region’s current challenges.

It is important that young people have the opportunity to express their views, have their voices heard, and participate in decisions that affect the lives of their communities.

Karina Vasylieva, Deputy Head of the Student Council
