My Business Grows When I Grow

The first meeting of the semester in the “PPL: Tips from Practising Speech Therapists” series took place as part of the activities of “Student Task Force S016.” The guest speaker was Viktoriia Fil, founder and director of the Kinder Boom children’s centre in Zaporizhzhia and the online “Academy of the Future.”

“I used to check the quality of car paintwork at a factory. Today, I create a space for children’s development,” says Viktoriia Fil, describing her professional journey. Her experience formed the basis of a conversation about changing careers, starting an educational business, and working with children every day.

During the meeting, the speaker shared her experience of developing educational projects since 2018, organising in-person and online learning, and managing a team. She paid particular attention to working in a city near the front line and creating learning opportunities for children regardless of their location.

A special part of the meeting was a virtual tour of the Kinder Boom children’s centre led by Ms Fil. Participants had the opportunity to see the centre’s facilities and learn about the setting in which work with children takes place. This format was introduced for the first time within our student research group, allowing students to explore remotely how an educational environment is organised in practice.

We thank Viktoriia Fil for sharing her experience and practical advice. We look forward to further meetings with professionals who help students gain a better understanding of their future profession!
