The choreography educational programme: dialogue for quality education

On 10 October 2026, the Department of Choreography and Fitness held an online conference meeting dedicated to discussing the Choreography Educational and Professional Programme. The meeting brought together students from different years of study, the Head of the University Student Self-Government, representatives of the Faculty Student Self-Government, academic staff responsible for teaching professional courses, Olena Martynenko, the Programme Guarantor, and Yuliia Taranenko, Head of the Department.
Open dialogue between students and academic staff is an important component of quality assurance in higher education. Such meetings provide an opportunity to hear the views and expectations of the student community, assess the relevance of the educational programme’s content, and identify areas for further improvement in line with current requirements in choreographic education and professional practice.
During the meeting, participants focused on the content of the educational and professional programme, its practical orientation, the balance between theoretical and practical training, and opportunities to expand students’ individual learning pathways.
Students put forward proposals to improve the content of specific educational components and the range of elective courses. These recommendations have been taken into consideration for further review as part of the programme’s ongoing improvement.
Participants also proposed holding dedicated meetings with academic advisers to discuss the educational programme within individual academic groups. This format will encourage more focused dialogue, give students an opportunity to express their views, and allow proposals concerning the organisation of the educational process to be explored in greater detail.
The Department of Choreography and Fitness will continue to foster open dialogue with students. After all, a high-quality educational programme is the result of continuous collaboration, shared responsibility, and the commitment of academic staff and students to preparing competitive professionals in the field of choreography.
